VISION

  • Inculcating interest in English among student-teachers through club activities.
  • Removing the fear on English from our student-teachers by making them participate in various programs.
  • Improving student-teachers’ proficiency in English through Bridge Course on Communicative skills.
  • Enabling the student-teachers to correct the errors committed by them in English through Special Lectures.
  • Providing opportunities for the instinctive urges of the student teachers and other students of Thoothukudi in English by organizing Inter-collegiate and Intra-collegiate ENG-FEST (English-Fest).
  • Giving practical exposure in organizing associations and convening the programmes.

    Activities in the Academic Year 2018-2019

    DEBATE IN ENGLISH ON ‘CELL-PHONE IS A BOON OR BANE’

    The debate in English on ‘Cell-Phone is a Boon or Bane’ was conducted on 21.02.2019. Mr.Ramkumar welcomed the gathering. Miss. Lawanya served as the moderator. Miss.Rajeswari, Miss. SirajMurshithaBanu, Miss. Essakkiammal and Miss. Parameswari spoke for the bane team whereas Miss. Divya, Miss.C.Anusia, Miss.AnuChitra and Miss. Gunaseela spoke for the boon team. The moderator concluded that it is human mind that makes it boon or bane. Miss. Shobana Devi proposed the vote of thanks.

    ENG-FEST-2019 was celebrated on 23.03.2019 at the College Auditorium. Miss. Lawanya, Miss. JeslinSaghana, Miss. Abigail and Miss.Benoshah compered the programme. Miss.Aileen welcomed the gathering. The following competitions, in this regard, had been conducted for non-English pedagogy students.

  • Essay competition in English on ‘An Ideal Teacher in the Present Scenario’
  • Elocution competition in English on ‘Enfranchise your vote: Flourish our Country’
  • Verse writing in English on ‘Voice of VOCCE for Voiceless’
  • Pencil sketch competition on ‘A Scene from Shakespeare’
  • Enacting the Characters of English Literature
  • Skit in English on ‘Inevitable English’
  • Ms.S.Blessy, Assistant Professor in English, Bishop Caldwell College, Thoothukudi and Mrs.EmimaRolentia, Assistant Professor in English, Annammal College of Education, Thoothukudi served as the judges. ‘Literary Parade’ was also organised by the English-Pedagogy students. The prizes were distributed by the Principal. Mr.V.Franklin proposed vote of thanks. With National Anthem, the programme came to an end.

    WORLD POETRY DAY

    The world poetry day was celebrated on 21.03.2019. The poetry competition was organised for Non-English Pedagogy students on the title ‘Voice from V.O.C.C.E for Voiceless’. 20 students participated. The prizes were given during ENG-FEST held on 23.03.2019.
