As a Principal, I am hugely inspired and impressed by the commitment and dedication of our Honorary President Shri.A.P.C.V.Chockalingam and also for providing an excellent platform to develop the personality of our students. Under the dynamic leadership of our Honourary Secretary Shri.A.P.C.V.Shanmugam, we are all working together to promote the academic excellence and also to make the best feasible efforts to inculcate the values among our students.

V.O.C.College of Education is a remarkable tribute to the Indian freedom fighter and great Tamil scholar, V.O.Chidambaram. The eminent scholar and philanthropist Kulapahty A.P.C.Veerabahu, Founder Secretary, started this temple of learning on 5th July 1955 and formally opened by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri.K.Kamaraj with a missionary zeal of throwing open the portals of Teacher Education to all, especially the socially and economically marginalized section of the society irrespective of their caste, creed and gender. The college is being run under the aegis of well established V.O.Chidambaram Educational Society which was started two days before the Independence of India with the committed and public spirited citizens of Tuticorin.

V.O.C.College of Education is blessed with all resources which lays the foundation for preparing the individual to become the fittest person of the society. It is an innovative teacher training college to find out the hidden talents, skills and abilities of the prospective teachers which are identified and encouraged to make a complete man/woman, who is physically enduring, emotionally matured, intellectually enlightened, aesthetically developed, morally oriented and spiritually inclined and so that they are able to reach greater heights. It also provides an holistic and students centric atmosphere to our students for multifaceted development, where students are encouraged to channelized the potential in this pursuit of excellence.

Today, the role of college is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be life-long learners, critical thinkers and productive members of an ever changing global society by conducting/organizing various curricular, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Extra care is also taken to ensure the well-being and happiness of each and every student in the college.
