About

The Temple of Knowledge is situated in the upstairs of M.C.Veerabahu Memorial Block. The plinth area of the library building is 2115.60 Sq.ft. and nearly 80 students can be freely accommodated and utilized. It is situated in the natural environment and equipped with enough lighting and ventilation. Our library contains 16,300 volumes of books including the disciplines such as Tamil, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Sociology, Physical Education, Psychology, Philosophy, Research, Computer Science, Gandhiji, Religion, Journals, Encyclopaedias, Dissertation and books related to competitive exams, etc. Dr.S.R.Ranganathan’s Colon Classification system is followed to classify all subjects. A database of books has also been created in the computer.

JOURNAL

Our College has started Education Journal namely V.O.C. JOURNAL OF EDUCATION in the year 1961 by getting provisions of the Press and Registration of Books Act and Registration of Newspapers Rules 1956. The first volume of V.O.C Journal of Education was published successfully in the month of April, 1961. We started this journal having the aim to stimulate the spirit of Research and their contribution to educational development in India. The journal was published thrice a year – every April, August and December. Prof.K.Narayanan, Prof. of English, Teachers’ College, Tuticorin was the publisher of this journal. The journal was published upto the year 1971. V.O.C. Journal of Education published the messages from J.E.V.Jenkins, Regional Representative, The British Council of Madras, Dr.S.Radhakrishnan, Vice-President of India, Mr.AelianeLebourg, Education Clearing House, UNESCO, Paris, Mr.SamuelLevenson, Publication Director, World Confederation of Organizations of the Teaching Profession Washington, Mr.C.Subramaniam, Minister for Finance and Education, Mr.T.M.NarayanaswamyPillai, Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University etc.

In the year 2016 our college proposed to revamp and relaunch its V.O.C.Journal of Education. The new edition of this journal named “Edu Reach: V.O.C.Journal of Educational Research” is a bi-annual blind peer reviewed, focusing on all issues related to education. We subscribe nearly 50 journals which includes National, International Journals and magazines. Journals are coming with regular periodicity without any interruption.

REPROGRAPHIC SERVICES

Reprographic facilities are available in the library. Students and staff members can utilize these facilities at any time.

BACK VOLUMES

We subscribed journals from the inception of our institution. The Old issues are bound and back volumes are preserved and maintained in the back volume section.

INTERNET

In our library, for the sake of students five computers are connected with wi-fi internet service. Students can avail and browse internet services.
There is a book bank which contains examination oriented text books for the sake of deprived students. We are maintaining Question Bank of Madurai Kamaraj University, Manonmanian Sundaranar University and Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University.

INFLIBNET

The project entitled “National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly content (N-LIST) being jointly executed by the UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium. The N-List project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through services installed at the INFLIBNET Centre. The authorized users from colleges can access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET centre. We registered our college through N-LIST online registration, on November 7th, 2012 at 4.15 p.m. Every year we collect e-mail I.D’s from prospective teachers and scholars and faculty members. Through College Admin Login ID and password for college admin module we create username and password for authorized users. The admin user ID and password can also be used for accessing N-LIST e-resource through the ‘member-login’ after 24 hours. Since our library resource centre has NET-(Wi-Fi) connection, students are actively involved in utilizing INFLIBNET-N-LIST programme successfully.

RESEARCH CENTRE

Our college has been upgraded as Research Centre from the year 1990 onwards. Our library is equipped with number of reference materials including encyclopaedias, yearbooks, dictionaries, competitive books, international dissertation abstracts, 51 Ph.D. Theses, 269 M.Phil. Theses and 483 M.Ed Dissertations and more than 100 Research Tools for Research Scholars. Theses. etc. Our library received nearly 398 books as a gift from Dr.Aruna M.Sethupathi, U.S.A. through H.E.L.P Foundation. Students can avail Reprographic facilities and INFLIBNET connection.
